SIEM REAP: The Prime Minister of Cambodia has told the Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, Chea Sophara, to issue land titles to the families who have volunteered to demolish their old houses in the Angkor area and relocate to Run Ta Ek village and the Pak Sneng Development Zone, so that residents will be able to more conveniently borrow money from the bank.

During a third meeting with the residents of Run Ta Ek village on Friday morning, 21 October, Prime Minister Hun Sen said, "Some people think it will be given as concessional social land, but I do not agree with that, I think we should immediately give residents the land titles as soon as possible because they have to go to the bank to borrow money. If social land concessions are submitted, people will not be able to borrow money from banks because we have not yet issued land titles."

The Prime Minister clarified that land titles will only be given to those who volunteered to relocate to Run Ta Ek village and Pak Sneng Development Zone.

He instructed Minister Chea Sophara to systematically register the land for residents in order to create a strong village.

Currently, there are 5,865 families who have volunteered to relocate themselves from the Angkor resort area in order to preserve the heritage site. These families have received compensation from the Royal Government to live in Run Ta Ek village and Pak Sneng Development Zone.

Between 25 August and 20 October 2022, a total of 9,134 families have relocated to Run Ta Ek village, Banteay Srei district. Siem Reap Province and Pak Sneng Development Zone located in Pak Sneng Chas Village, Pak Sneng Commune, Angkor Thom District, Siem Reap Province.
